Take care of your virtual identity!
In a far too technological reality, where more and more emphasis is placed on artificial intelligence, born in a computer, we have come to build virtual identities, with which we can interact with people from a distance or solve real problems with just a few clicks.
As personal security becomes more and more difficult to implement and call it virtual, there is the possibility that your data will be stolen, manipulated, and this will have serious repercussions on everyday reality.
To be able to have access to some banking facilities, to be able to socialize on certain sites, to make online purchases, to be able to watch your favorite series and movies, we have to create certain online accounts where it is necessary to leave some personal information.
These online accounts, the so-called virtual identity, identified by a name (id) and a password, must be maximally secured. Some internet pirates, increasingly professional hackers, hunt for any of our weaknesses, and manage to hack our virtual accounts, using them as they please. In such situations, our bank accounts can easily be emptied, we can wake up with credits or without friends due to some bad jokes made in our name.
For many of us, the winding and relatively new world of the Internet represents a real challenge, difficult to penetrate. Thus, the threat of hackers can become a reality if we do not know how to protect our virtual identity.
In this case, we must take into account some elementary rules that will help us, even the most ignorant of the Internet, to avoid the keen and alert eye of online pirates.
On social media sites, to watch movies online, or any other site that does not require real information, it is preferable not to use your full name, but only your first name or some diminutives.
When choosing a password, it is not recommended to use your own name or personal data and information. In the virtual world, we have to be cautious, so-called virtual friends can easily find out the necessary information that leads to your password. When choosing the password, use a chain of characters, letters and numbers, without any particular meaning. Do not keep this password in a trivial document on the computer, where anyone can easily access it.
Some websites of banks or online stores ask for your bank account or certain data leading to a financial deposit. Don’t be influenced by the appearance of a website, attractive prices or amazing offers. If it is strictly necessary to provide those data, look for some methods to see if the site is real, call a contact number, look for other information about it on the Internet.
On a social networking site, in a discussion with a potential virtual friend or by email, when you receive an attractive message, do not download images or songs to your own computer, if you are not sure that the person who sent them will want you well. Behind them can be some viruses that infest your computer and steal all the data on it.
When you need information from your e-mail or other online account and you are far from your personal computer, when you log in from a friend, benevolent person or from an internet cafe, be careful that your data does not remain registered. Uncheck the boxes that ask if you want your password to be saved.
These were just some elementary rules that Hotel Alpin invites you to take into account for the security of your virtual identity and for the tranquility of everyday reality.
