Our Hospitality Stories – Mircea Ungur – F&B Assistant Manager

When we talk about professionalism, motivation and ambition, we can’t help ourselves to give our colleague, Mircea, as an example.
Mircea is the assistant manager of the F&B (Food & Beverages) department, basically, he is the secondary manager of the restaurants, within Alpin Resort Hotel.
He considers that the spirit of personal, persistent self-improvement and the saying “don’t leave for tomorrow what you can do today” brought him to the position he occupies today.
With a lot of responsibility and professionalism, Mircea manages to coordinate an entire serving team in the 3 restaurants within Alpin Resort Hotel (A’Propos, Tosca & Forest).
Before he got the responsibility and the position he occupies today within the Alpin Resort Hotel, Mircea was a room manager at a hotel also located in Poiana Braşov.
He reached a point at his former workplace, which he considered maximum, practically, he wanted to progress even more. So, ambition, self-confidence and the spirit of personal self-improvement led him to join the Alpin team, in the same position, maître d’.
After years of trust, devotion and total commitment, Mircea was appointed assistant manager in the F&B (Food & Beverages) department, at the end of last year.
He tells me that this promotion made him become even more responsible and he ended up training dozens of trainees who walk through the hotel’s doors, being interns from hospitality schools. Also, all the employees who come to work in the restaurants within Alpin are trained by Mircea and his fellow director in the same department, Sorin, in order to give outstanding results.
For Mircea, the training and sharing of knowledge that he attributes to the newcomers is the greatest satisfaction and happiness he could ever feel. Here we are talking about his greatest satisfaction from a professional point of view, besides the spirit of professionalism and self-improvement, the training and learning of other colleagues, brings him a special happiness.
He believes that after this promotion he finally managed to find his personal balance, between job, family and his own person. He managed to create a program that brings a maximum contribution on all levels.
His relationship with the team is fantastic, Mircea being a modest person, admired by all his colleagues and loved; he managed to develop such a connection with the whole team due to his very high degree of involvement and dedication, being considered by many old and new employees a worthy model to follow in this profession. He told us that the spiritual part (faith) is the factor that makes him become better every day, regardless of the stressful, hard, good or less good moments, he brings balance to the F&B team and succeeds to motivate everyone with his positive energy.
His aspirations for the future are recruiting new people for restaurants, training them and keeping them for the Alpin brand.
He wants to maintain a good relationship with the new employees who step into Alpin Resort Hotel and to convince them to join the Alpin team.
I believe that Alpin is truly a factory that creates professionals in the Horeca sector, where skilled and devoted people meet, work and end up satisfying tens of thousands of guests annually.
Mircea can be considered a lucky person, to whom the Alpin brand brought more than a very good job. Once he came to Alpin, Mircea met his soulmate with whom he managed to build a wonderful family.
For me, Alpin is more than a job and will always remain that way! Here I found my better half, here I lived the most beautiful moments from a professional point of view, here I would like to invest all my energy to reach more and more extraordinary results!
I also asked him what is Alpin’s role in the training of employees, how much does the brand and people like him contribute to their development.
He told us that in Alpin it is inevitable to grow, if you put in the effort, you are hardworking and ambitious, you reach a very high level in any department, “Alpin is the place where you reach your 100% potential, undoubtedly”.
Finally, I wanted to know why the guests prefer Alpin Resort Hotel, and how they managed to keep their standards very high on the restaurant side.
People prefers Alpin for the trust in the brand, but also the conditions created by each individual department, which increase the reputation of the brand, at the end of the day. Also, the attention for details offered to each individual client is the main goal, each guest is treated carefully. We often receive this feedback from guests after they get up from the table and thank us for the hospitality.
