One of these places, a true sanctuary of history, culture and beauty, located in the middle of Brașov is Mureșenilor House. Located right in Piața Sfatului, this cultural treasure will bring to your attention two outstanding figures of Romanian history and culture: Iacob Mureșianu and Andrei Mureșianu.

Established in 1968, as a result of a donation made by the descendants of the two famous members of the Mureșeni’s family, the museum having the same name hosts a valuable collection of furniture, paintings, sculptures and above all an archive of priceless cultural value, of over 25000 documents.

The building that accommodated the Mureșenilor House Museum dates from the 16th century and is in the neoclassical style, belonging to the great Andrei and Iacob Mureșianu.

They say that a person who does not know his history cannot understand his present and especially build his future, so if sometimes due to lack of free time or being too overwhelmed by everyday problems we do not manage to get our hands on a history book, let’s try to listen to the story told by some places and monuments, thus quenching our thirst for knowledge.

Andrei Mureșianu is a Transylvanian poet and revolutionary who lived between 1816-1863, being the author of the famous poem “Un răsunet” whose verses became the National Anthem of Romania in 1990.
