Brașov – a fairy tale city

width=Are you on a break at work? The stress and problems that seem to never end have exhausted you and you would like to escape for a few days to a place far from all these problems, where you can pamper your heart and eyes?

Then, I suggest you an exercise of imagination, close your eyes and… let’s go to Brașov, historically attested in the year 1234 in the Ninivensis Catalog under the name of Corona. At the end of the 14th century, Corona was considered one of the most powerful economic, commercial, ecclesiastical and cultural centers of Transylvania.

Over time, Brașov has known difficult times, but also flourishing periods, becoming one of the most beautiful cities of our country, impressing with its dream places and its history. When you visit Brașov, you must take into account some unique tourist attractions in Romania that should not be missed, being an amalgam of tradition and novelty that will surely conquer you.

Surely you know that Brașov is also called the city at the foot of Tâmpa, so if you arrive in Brașov, take a walk on the mountain that almost completely surrounds the city, like the walls of a fortress. The view from the top of Tâmpa is sure to take your breath away, presenting the panorama of the entire region of Bârsa. Going down to Brașov, walking along with loved ones, you can visit the Black Church, a symbol of the city, which impresses with its majesty, as well as with its story. Throughout more than 7 centuries, the Black Church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the protectress of Brașov, has listened to the fervent prayers of people whose faith has been severely tested.

width=Brașov Citadel invites you to enter another world where time seems to stand still. Here you will have a real history lesson about medieval Brașov. Of the 32 watchtowers, you can admire only a few of them, such as the White Tower and the Black Tower.

Following our walking tour through Brașov, we will definitely visit and admire Piața Sfatului, the place where the most important national and international music festivals take place.

width=To delight our eyes and to satisfy our desire for knowledge, we will stop at the Art Museum where we will admire the works of Nicolae Grigorescu, Gheorghe Tătărescu, Theodor Aman, Sava Hentia, Constantin Lecca as well as the sculptures of Cornel Medrea, Ion Jalea, Ion Irimescu and Dimitrie Paciurea. We cannot ignore the First Romanian School, which was founded in 1495, representing an important starting point for Romanian culture.

And because we are convinced that the walk has tired you, I suggest a stop at the Cetățuia, which dates back to 1524, stoically defending the Brașov area. Now this place hosts a restaurant and a terrace, where you can calm down and enjoy the wonderful view.

Your break from work is probably over, and so is our imaginary walk through Brașov.
