In Romania, you can find everywhere places where nature seems to be enjoying itself, offering a real treat that you can have whenever you feel the need. Ocna Sibiu is one such place that will impress you both with its appearance and its health benefits.

Also called “The Coast of Transylvania”, Ocna Sibiu is located just 17km from Sibiu, being famous for its numerous saline lakes that have been declared monuments of nature.

width=Located at approximately 400 meters above sea level, Ocna Sibiu represents an oasis of peace, beauty and health, which you deserve to take full advantage of. It is said that this area has been inhabited since the time of the Dacians, although it was attested from the year 1263. The salt water lakes were formed after the mines in the area were transformed, following a difficult but irreversible process, into water holes. Due to climate changes, the salt pan in the area disappeared, giving birth to the salt lakes that today represent a real tourist attraction whose fame has reached abroad.

In 1820, following studies carried out by the doctor Pataky Samuel, the therapeutic effects of saline water from these lakes were attested, which have a beneficial role in the treatment of diseases of the locomotor system, rheumatism, joint and degenerative diseases, also having a role in maintaining a healthy, young and beautiful body.
