A deliciously fasting recipe
The Christmas fast in the Orthodox Church begins on November 15th and ends on December 24th, on Christmas Eve, which is the tough day of the fast; Christians are allowed to eat foods prohibited during fasting after the Holy Christmas Liturgy on December 25.
It is a period of hard trials that is not respected by many of us. What does fasting mean, or the questions we have about the greatest Christian holiday – the Nativity of Jesus Christ – we will try to clarify them in this article written with love for you, the readers of the Alpin Hotel blog – the home of your soul.
During this period, weddings and parties are not held, until January 6.
The prohibited foods during a fast refers to everything of animal origin, meat and meat derivatives, eggs and milk products.
People who are sick, pregnant women, nursing mothers and nursing women cannot fast, because for them nutrition is essential.
Regarding the dishes in which the prohibited foods were eaten, you cannot use anything made of wood. These vessels must be changed. It is not a sin if you have appetite for food that is not for fasting, this is temptation.
We will try to suggest some fasting recipes that are mega delicious and that will deny the myth that the pork is the best vegetable.
Wok fried vegetables
Ingredients:
- Bell peppers (try to buy peppers of several colors, such as bright red, green, yellow)
- Celery
- Kohlrabi
- Carrot
- Garlic
- Mushrooms
- Lemon
- Soy sauce
Peel the vegetables and cut them julienne, but larger, like Chinese food.
Chop the garlic in small pieces, with a knife.
On the stove, put the wok on the maximum heat.
Pour a little olive oil, put the garlic and mix continuously. Do not let the garlic turn yellow or burn. The walls of the wok being very thin and hot, the garlic can burn very quickly and will give the food a bitter and very unpleasant taste.
We continue with the vegetables that we leave in the wok to fry 5-10 min (the time differs depending on the intensity of the gases that surround the walls of the wok).
When the vegetables are slightly soaked, pour the juice of half a lemon and a little soy sauce. It is very important not to add salt. Zero salt.
Leave on the fire for another 1 min to allow all the flavors to blend and it’s DONE!!!!!
You can serve with plain rice.
We guarantee you 100% that it is super delicious, healthy and filling.
Bon appetite!!
