Poiana Brasov, Romania’s premium destination
Poiana Brasov resort was founded in 1895, initially as a tourist area of Brasov. In time, became the most popular resort in Romania being famous for winter sports and hiking and also an important international tourist center.
The first ski competition in Romania took place in Poiana Brasov in 1906.
Poiana Brasov is surrounded by four large mountains: Postavaru, Piatra Craiului, Bucegi and Piatra Mare and belonging to the chain of Meridionali Carpathians.
Situated at an altitude of 1030 meters, ozone air that we find here, pure air free of dust and allergens, relatively low atmospheric pressure, are natural factors that recommend the resort for the treatment of respiratory system diseases, for states physical and intellectual overexertion and treatment of neurasthenia.
The climate is mountainous with an average annual temperature of 5 ° C, average temperature in July is 14.5 ° C and the average temperature in January is -5 ° C. Snow cover lasts 120 days a year with an average thickness of 50-60 cm can be guaranteed from mid December to late March.
Poiana Brasov is situated at a distance of 24 km from Brasov and 164 km from Bucharest, on DN1.
Transportation can be done by car (app. 2:30 drive from Bucharest) or by train to Brasov and from there by taxi or different means of transportation till Poiana.
Poiana Brasov is the most modern equipment mountain tourism in our country. Here we find luxury hotels with pool, villas, cottages and several hostels, restaurants, bars, clubs, concert halls and conference center riding, sports and fold tourist, sports fields, an artificial lake for winter sports, medical gyms, fitness centers, sauna, lift, a funicular and ski lift. There are also snow machines/ trodden snow.
Currently, Poiana Brasov has 12 ski slopes with different degrees of difficulty (easy, medium and difficult), an olympic track, 3 tracks for downhill and giant slalom, slalom track for a special and two jumps. Slopes are equipped with lift facility; two lines and one gondola lift which provides tourists access to the Postavaru peaks, plus, seasonal, several lift lines.

• Magherus – for advanced skiers with a length of 460m.
